Successful communication in the healthcare field is a vital ingredient in the health of patients. The importance of accurate documentation in nursing cannot be stressed enough. Patients’ health and nursing careers alike have all suffered the consequences of insufficient communication and documentation. To demonstrate appropriate communication skills, I always ensure that I respect confidentiality, share information in a way that patients can understand, give only information people want or need to know about their health including the patients and other health care providers, and keep accurate record keeping.
