It Is an Egyptian movie. The main characters are Bakhit and Adila who are a couple that have been trying to marry in Egypt, but they could not because of the lack of money and one day Bakhit receives a call from his cousin Nawfal to visit him in America. Adila and Bakhit travels in search of wealth and achieving their dream of getting married, Bakhit collide with the very different society like any other immigrant, after a series of situations that show the difference between the American and middle eastern traditions, Bakhit is forced to marry an obese old lady in order to obtain a permit to stay in the united states and his dream of marrying adeela is almost gone. Afterwards Bakhit is exposed to a car accident. Bakhit filed a lawsuit to compensate for this incident, the lawyer asks compensation of five million dollars for his work. Bakhit won the case, but the money goes to the attorneys ' fees and insurance companies. Bakhit and Adila merely have any money to get married with no visa or any papers in the streets with no home. This movie is the most realistic picture any immigrant has for the American dream but just like Bekhit got shocked when he found out the truth we all as immigrants discovered, that freedom here is not real, equal opportunity is not equal and hard work does not give you what you dream of, however the only question that may be asked in this situation is “why are you still living here …show more content…
In days where hard work was valued and rewarded by success, but now the world and the United States in specific has changed. Hard work is not enough by itself. The American dream is a myth for a woman immigrant. Because America is not what I dreamed of before I come, I dreamed of ultimate freedom, rewarding jobs and of course a safe home for me and myself. I did not find these factors of a dream country here in the United States. Maybe I feel this way because I did not stay long enough to discover the beauty of this country, but I am still shocked that I did not find freedom in” The greatest country in the world”
