“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.” – Albert Schweitzer. Happiness is a topic that has been debated by scientists and by regular members of society. Last month, I spoke about the effects of happiness with my sister and if it helps better your life. Happiness has been studied for scientific purposes and for philosophical meaning. Some researchers do find or believe that success can lead to happiness. Whether it is career success or in your family life, but others might consider the opposite. Others might think that success will lead to happiness. Similar to what Albert Schweitzer says, success is not the key to happiness, but happiness is the key to success which is true according to various pieces of research found on happiness. Most individuals were successful in their careers after they were able to find happiness and it gave them motivation to make new goals and succeed. The reason why there is confusion is probably because it can work in both ways, but happiness can lead to success in your career and can also better other things such as your relationships and your health as well.
The idea of success leading to happiness or why success is considered to bring happiness can stem from the idea of the American Dream that is a myth in our society even till this day.
