Social class is the division of society based on socioeconomic status. In other words, social class ranks people on how much money they have. Low income family does not really value education because they do not have the money to send their kids to college. Middle class family value education more than low income family. They work their best to get their children to college. The upper class family highly values education. They are most advantageous because they have all the money to send their children to any college in the world. These rich kids attend prestigious universities, therefore acquiring a higher education which will result in higher salaries. Social class also affects the choice of college because social class and money are related. College tuition fees are very expensive and the addition of other expenses such as books and accommodation will skyrocket the cost to attend a college. In my situation, I am a first generation student in my family. My parent’s income can’t afford me to attend my dream college and other colleges outside Hawaii, so I stayed here in the island. I was fine with it because Kauai Community College has an excellent nursing program and I was surprised of how amazing and dedicated and helpful the teachers and staffs are here so I am really grateful that I …show more content…
School is a network of educated people who influence kids to obtain a higher education. Teachers are programmed to teach their students various subjects. They guide the students to think outside the box. They help them increase their knowledge. Also, counselors persuade students to focus on school and think of college. They give informations about colleges and help them throughout the application process. They even help them apply for scholarships to help lessen the tuition fees. Lastly, peers can also influence a student. Peers that are college-bound can greatly influence others to also attend college. Overall, the school influences a student to obtain a higher
