According to the mainstream media “success” is defined as being wealthy , living in a big house, and owning all the latest cars and fashions; and technology is the key to happiness, and hence, success. The Oxford English Dictionary defines success as ‘The attainment of popularity or profit.’ Personally, I feel this definition is too narrow and a bit distorted. I feel that true success should be defined as setting short and long-term goals and also successfully achieving them. Also, success can just mean excelling at something. Everyone has their own definition of success. Today’s current media have successfully changed the term “success” in modern society. We use the term “success” a fair amount and we have the misconception that it means money, status, fame, and power. But take a look in the dictionary and things start to look thankfully a lot more complicated. Because success is in truth rather more neutral and less valeting. It just means doing anything well, excelling at something, and that might encompass a lot of different activities.
