5Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." This powerful quote by Winton Churchill gives a different perspective the actual meaning of success and failure. Every person lives through ups in downs, successes, and failures. However, everyone goes through successes and failures differently, and every person has a decision to either power through their failures to succeed or to falter from under them. In my case, there was a failure in my life that was particularly unique. It led to a journey which unequivocally shaped me into the person who I am standing today.

I was seeking revenge; I was on a mission to get back what’s mine. I wanted to have a great shot at next year’s state tournament. I would have to sacrifice my time and energy on becoming a better person and wrestler. The spring and summer gave me the most time to capitalize on my opportunity. To get to what I wanted, I started by going to the gym every day. The gym was an essential tool for me to become stronger, faster, and bigger. Also, by restructuring my dietary lifestyle, it enabled me to become leaner and stronger. This help shaped me enhance my athleticism. Eating very nutritious and heart-healthy meals were the only way to accomplish that. Some of my main foods I ate were chicken, pasta, eggs, and rice. I soon felt that I reached a point where my mind and body were on the right track to achieve my goal. I was selected captain of the team by my coaches. I had ceased being completely self-centered. As a leader to my team, my responsibility is lead and empower my team. To accomplish that, I had to feed my team knowledge on how to become a better football player. I preached that attitude, discipline, and determination was critical for utilizing your potential. I live by these points as well to become a better person and athlete myself. As a result, I had a breakout season on the field. However, the football season did not play the way we all wanted. The injuries, lack of chemistry, questionable coaching, team behavior and a virus breakout which infected a portion of the team were insurmountable for the team to overcome. After the end of last game of the season, on Thanksgiving morning, the football season was over. As I was walking off the field, I felt no regrets nor remorse. I knew that I fulfilled my goals and duties. I was a mentor and leader to my teammates. I gave everything I had out on the field. However in reality, football is a team sport. One player cannot account for the other ten other players on the field at the same time. I wanted to strive for more for myself and my team. In reality, I could only do some
