America was considered the wealthiest nation in the world because of the industry capitalism. The war ended the Great Depression and open a new chapter in America. Society changed considerably in the way Americans lived their lives by consumerism, suburbanization, and religion. Prosperity and consumerism encouraged America economy the way they buy items. The demand of goods and housing created a market in consumerism. Cohen (2004) stated the new postwar order the good consumer devoted to “more, newer, and better” was in fact the good citizen, responsible for marking the United States a more desirable place for all

The GI bill transformed America by making it accessible for people to get loans for new homes. The problem was the loan did not allow rebuild old homes. This was the reasons why more Americans left the city to move to the suburbs (Schultz, 2016). The mortgage loans also created economic growth. The demand of homes created a massive investment of new infrastructure. Technology allowed power to be conveniently accessible in suburbs communities. Veterans returning from war wanted to start a new life and most of them contribute to the rise of suburbanization in America (Boundless, 2016). Suburbanization growth also created shopping malls closer to the suburbs to satisfy the needs of the suburbs community. The downside of suburbanization that it strengthened racial segregation. White Americans left the city for suburbs, black Americans where moving into the cities. The migration at this time created a separation between whites and blacks. Retaliators and politicians complicated the situation even worse by not allowing them in the neighborhood or making it impossible for them to obtain a loan. The government refused to interfere and protect such practices. As a result, the suburbs in this era where whites and the people that remain in the city was racial
