While doing an intake interview with a 25 year-old male client that states that he probably drinks too much and has trouble keeping a job due to tardiness and lack of attendance. First off, As his counselor before doing the intake I would make sure I understand the limits on my licenses or certification authority to diagnose or assess Co-occurring disorder (COD). This information would be imperative to make a proper diagnosis.

I would needs to know that a minimum of 2-3 criteria is required for a mild substance use disorder diagnosis, while 4-5 is moderate, and 6-7 is severe.
