I would needs to know that a minimum of 2-3 criteria is required for a mild substance use disorder diagnosis, while 4-5 is moderate, and 6-7 is severe. Finally, I would need to be able to determine which criteria my client meets, if it’s impaired control, social impairment, risky use, or pharmacological. During the intake I would use Motivational enhancement, this will help my client build motivation and commit to specific plans to engage in treatment and seek
