This study assessed the causes and correlates of substance abuse by self-reported sexual minorities, by utilizing statistics derived from a random sample of 6,713 participants of the Washington State Needs Assessment Household Survey (WANAHS). This assessment was intended to evaluate the frequency of substance use and the need for substance abuse treatment in the general population.
