ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research report is to explain and identify the many different types of substance abuse and the consequences that will occur. This report offers the latest research findings on drug misuse, including the cases of prescription drugs that are most commonly misused. Here are some signs and behaviors that may indicate your child or someone else you know is using drugs, chemicals, or alcohol:

• Changed attitude or success in school – Obtaining alcohol or other substances can affect the user’s attitude, behavior or success in school. They no longer have motivation or the ability to want to achieve good grades and want to do successful things for themselves.

• Withdrawal – As the drug wears off on the user, they may experience symptoms such as: Anxiety, jumpiness, trembling, sweating, nausea, fatigue, headaches, etc.

• Loss of appetite – Substance and Abuse can cause major effects on the weight of a user and it leads to irregular eating patterns and poor nutrition. Not only does it affect the weight, but also the internal organs of a person such as the liver or heart.

• Secrecy – A user will go out of their way in hiding the drugs or alcohol they are consuming as well as doing the drugs or alcohol at any given time in
