Experimentation with alcohol while in college is a fairly common occurrence. Alcoholic beverages, while allowed on campus for those of legal drinking age, find their way into immature hands all too often. Attending college is hard work and as such, students usually want to attend parties and enjoy life in their off time. When this happens, individuals who otherwise would not make bad choices have found themselves either as a victim of an assault or as the perpetrator. Alcohol related incidents on our campus reached an all time high in 2013. Statistically our younger students were at fault in 89% of on campus incidents from 2001 to 2011. Alcohol was a contributing factor 85% of the time. These incidents which varied from drunk and disorderly behavior all the way up to sexual assaults and rape cases are unacceptable. These incidents degrade the trust of your fellow students and cause fear of being attacked. For the first time in university history the board has voted unanimously to join several other college campuses across the United States in being a dry campus. The only exception will be university sponsored events that occur on campus. This means there will be changes coming in the near future with regard for policy when it comes to the possession of alcohol on campus whether in the dorms or other
