One's First Plane Ride Analysis

This story would be accurately classified as a subjective narrative. The story is a recounting of a personal experience discussing the thoughts and emotions of a college professor, following the suicide of one of his students. Illuminating his sense of responsibility, which he felt after losing his student; along with his struggle of accepting the reality of the situation, we understand the pain and loss the professor undergoes. He contemplates all the diverse ways he wishes the situation had occurred, and buries himself in an attempt to figure out how he could have saved the life of possibly his brightest pupil. Everyone fashions a mental image of what they believe it will be like, but after entering the plane and sitting down in your seat everything quickly changes. While walking onto the plane, you are quickly punched in the nose by a smell that can only be created by the body odor of hundreds of people, who were previously enclosed within the plane. This is mixed with the aroma of the extremely questionable food, which they serve during the flight. You watch as the beer and food lines endlessly grow into oblivion. Then view the thousands of eager football enthusiasts chaotically file into their seats in time for kick off. All of them were happy that they can enjoy their day off from work, and watch their favorite go to battle on the gridiron. In one swift survey you notice the hundreds, who are becoming temporary best friends with their neighbors as they root on their favorite team together; and as the masses slowly become more intoxicated beer by beer.
