In only a minute, we see that the main character struggles with his speech impediment, but aside from that we also see that this is a very lonely, talented person, who just wants to get out in the world and form relationships. We here his inner thoughts and they sound normal, but we see his lips moving in a phone conversation and it is clear that he is going through an internal struggle between what he hears his head, and what comes out. We also see him watching other people, a girl on a train, a couple fighting, and as he is watching these people in his everyday life, it is clear that he yearns for the type of normalcy that those people take for granted.
Maybe this short film was not solely a success because of the good writing, the intriguing plot, and talented actors, (although that is definitely part of it,) but maybe it owes it success to the word it spreads about those struggling with something that is their own personal issue. It sheds light on someones insecurity, and something that this man so wishes he could change.
This short film is raw, captivating, and it brings awareness to those that are struggling with something they cannot necessarily fix on their own, and it is something others have no idea

The Shorts 1 film consisted of short films that did not seem to have any connection to one another. Nothing is yet said about the film as a whole. All of the short films ended abruptly, which in a way made me want to watch more. I left the theater wondering what would have happened next. I felt that maybe the directors did not want the audience to fully understand the film.…

The independent film movement of the 1990’s allowed for a range of young, hungry filmmakers to move to a forefront which many directors nary got a chance to experience in the past. Yearning for voices which were "out of the box” in story, dialogue and acting, these indie flicks began to span beyond just arthouse cinema. Creatives didn’t always have to rely on big studio backing to get their projects off the ground. Often rough and raw, the films and their visionary maestros orchestrated their ideas into small budget foundations as a calling card for future endeavors. Gumption and innovation to bring non-Hollywood concepts to the screen on a shoestring budget helped to shape new ways of making movies rather than waiting for a big break to find…

Younger brother to Reiji Akaba, Reira is both alike and completely unlike the elder of the Akaba boys by far. What they share beyond physical traits is little; but it is enough. Highly intelligent, a heavy amount of expectations have been placed on him despite his age; as a student of LDS, he's become known as the 'gem of LDS' (being directly referred to as such)--a celebrated and powerful result of their classes--and beyond this, he is by far the youngest member of the Lancers Defense Selection, with all others of the 9-man team being between the ages of 14 and 16. Despite this strength however, it seems as if the path there has been relatively devoid of support outside his brother; he observes the sight of other children being cheered on…
