Stumo: Student Group Analysis

Decent Essays
The group I am currently considering is StuMo, which stands for Student Mobilization. Some of the reasons why I am interested in StuMo are that I am looking to grow spiritually, meet new people, develop leadership skills, and strengthen my character, while also having something to occupy my time here at the University. It is an interdenominational student group, whose mission statement is to raise up laborers for Christ from college campuses and mold these laborers to future leaders. StuMo is open to people of all religious affiliations and ethnic backgrounds. One of their goals is support and help students in any way along their spiritual development. Choosing the leader was one of the most important processes in this project. The leader we chose for our group was Matt Vack. As a possible incoming student, who not only desires to, but needs to learn and attend a favorable campus, the things that I can offer and/or bring are my experiences and skills. I will try to help enrich the campus community as much as I can. Although, my experiences and interests may be easily overlooked by some because of the simple fact that I am “only seventeen,” and that everyone is still continuously evolving. I believe I can still bring something to only help enrich the community. A particular experience that I know differentiates from others is, being Hmong.…

Through this club I was able to serve as a mentor for various middle school students. Every Friday I would go to a middle school classroom and spend breakfast with them. During this time I would play games with them or talk to them about anything they wanted guidance with. The really cool thing about this program was that I didn't have to go a middle school, but because my school also has a middle school level. I was able to build relationships with students I see around…
