Studying is the golden ticket to passing a class. Without studying, it is impossible for you to get a comprehensive learning experience. You will not be able to thoroughly understand the concepts of a subject if you do not put the time and effort to study. Many students think of studying as something they do to prepare for an exam; however, it is important to study consistently throughout the course to develop a complete understanding of the subject. The benefits of studying are countless; ranging from earning an “A” on an assignment to the ultimate goal of graduating school.

Start studying early to avoid any unnecessary stress. Cramming your studies at the last minute can give you a good grade, but it will not help you in the long run, and it most definitely will not help for your career after graduation. The best way to overcome procrastination is to anticipate distractions. Realize that your studies take priority over other social activities. You have to make compromises in order to accomplish your goal to succeed in class. You might have to sacrifice going to the movies or hanging out with your friends in order to study, but you can reward yourself to go out after you have taken the exam. Only bring what you need for your study session. This includes paper, highlighters, pens/pencils, flashcards, textbooks, and other supplemental materials that are part of your study plan. Any unnecessary electronic device will be detrimental to your studying. It is too easy to be distracted by a text message or funny online video. Silence your phones, and limit your computer use solely for study related subjects. By only bringing materials you need, it will be easier to stay on task. Be sure to bring healthy snacks, like fruits, to give you a boost of energy and water to keep you hydrated during you study
