As someone of solely Italian heritage, I do not consider myself to be as educated as I would like regarding my own culture. Not only am I of the first generation to attend college, but also the first to be born here in America. I still have family currently living in Italy but have only had the chance to visit both them, and the country in general, once before. This being my background, I feel especially drawn to this once in a lifetime opportunity. An experience like this will enable me to enrich my understanding of the ethnicity. I am especially grateful for this opportunity since being able to study abroad is still fairly new to nursing, but the required summer schooling is another obstacle when it comes to expenses. I do not want to limit my experience and would like to explore as much as possible by traveling to other parts of Italy and even other neighboring countries since they vary greatly in Europe. I know I will be limited in terms of these extra costs, but I am also aware of how important these trips are, as they contribute to my direct exposure of these
