SAP's products focus on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), which it helped to pioneer. The company's main product is SAP ERP. “SAP ERP is the corporation's Enterprise Resource Planning, an integrated software solution that incorporates the key business functions of the organization.” It is a software system that would streamline many of the important day-to-day tasks across a business and free up staff to focus their efforts on more complex initiatives that require more personalized attention. ERP or Enterprise Resource Planning systems integrate internal and external management information across an entire organization—embracing finance/accounting, manufacturing, sales and service, customer relationship management, etc. ERP systems automate this activity with an integrated software application. The purpose of ERP is to facilitate the flow of information between all business functions inside the boundaries of the organization and manage the connections to outside stakeholders. ERP software solutions have the ability to make a business more profitable as it allows automation of most of the functional business processes across the enterprise.
