In Dr. Marty Lobdell’s video "Study Less, Study Smart", he communicates in his lecture some of his study tips and techniques. During the video his tips were for example, break your studies into chunked sessions, create a dedicated study area, to study actively, take smart notes, read textbooks effectively, etc. While studying with these helpful techniques, students increase their success in becoming a better studier.
I’m like a lot of other students who make the mistake to study for hours in a comfortable environment. No matter if on the couch, in bed or while watching TV, I used to study in places like that. Places like that are not really beneficial for a student to concentrate in what you learn. I always managed to pass my classes, but I never thought of that where you study is important or is encouraging your ability to study better. Lobell encourage students throughout his lecture to design a study area where students actually learn and study. And he is right, a lot of distractions in your study place is not really successful.

For example, instead of studying at home, where I have a lot of distractions, like TV or playing Xbox, I chose to study in a quieter place such in a library, a coffee house or a study hall. At the beginning I had to investigate a few places to find out which area is personally good enough for me and my needs, to become a better learner. However, to find your own best area to be a successful student is really important, it will also decrease your study time.
