To study is to devote time and attention to gain knowledge of a subject. To flourish each student must determine the specific method that best fits how their brain synthesizes the information presented. The environment being studied in also impacts the amount of productivity and the quality of the work. Attitude is a key factor in the fight against procrastination. Developing an attitude to maintain healthy study habits early on can help students know how to get through many other challenges faced in different circumstances. Success stems from how well students adapt to a certain study method and execute positive study habits. Everyone has a certain approach to being the most productive student possible.

Electronics are a major enabler of bad study habits. For example, social media, television, movies, texting, and music are all distractions that consume many students’ lives. Although breaks are crucial to maintain sanity, they can also light the path to addiction. The need to check for updates or messages can grow more frequent when reminded every once and a while. If the distractions were to be eliminated productivity levels would skyrocket, but that is not reality. A change in location is an example of a healthy break that could possibly ignite new ways to attack a challenging assignment. Exercising is also a positive way to get away and maintain mental focus. While some flourish in chaos, others blossom in silence. Flourishing amongst the chaos may include background music or shows, therefore becoming enablers and contradicting themselves as distractions. Blossoming in silence makes it hard to be around spirited friends and family, therefore find a hideout to center definitive inner focus. Lighting and location of a study space can specifically encourage stupor. Dim lighting near a warm bed is torture, while bright lights in an upright position keeps energy levels higher. Confusion can become overwhelming if students do not know what works best for them. The environment while studying directly influences productivity. Not being able to focus on the task at hand is incredibly simple if distractions are near. Mental distractions disrupt studying as well. Diving into assignments with a positive mindset helps the process tremendously. A huge part of studying is to not avoid and just to dive in. Procrastinating only makes things worse, and will result in regret or stress. Healthy study habits are the essence of a good academic career. Everyone finds different ways of studying helpful.
