I would like to study abroad because I feel it will broaden my horizons, on top of helping my understanding of many different cultures. I hope to expand my different styles of learning, and be able to adapt to life in another country and living completely independently and self-sufficiently. I have always been fairly shy, and I think that studying abroad will help me come out of my shell, and my comfort zone, even more than I have at university in Liverpool, and improve my levels of confidence, as I know that this is a key life skill.

I enjoy meeting new people from different backgrounds to mine, and I find it intriguing to learn about other countries, not just in the country I am studying in but also the countries that other study abroad

Meeting new academic staff in different a different country will provide me with a network for my future career or research, and could help me decide what I want to do after my degree.

I know that studying at an university abroad will be an invaluable experience, which I will carry with me for the rest of my life. It is a unique experience that I have wanted to do since I started looking at university courses and realised it was available to me, as I have always wanted to travel at some point in my life. Studying abroad will help open doors for me that I didn't even know existed, such as new career prospects or ideas for areas of research.
Although I have only been at the University of Liverpool for a couple of months, so far it has been the greatest experience of my life, and I would strongly encourage anyone I meet to apply to study at the university. All the lecturers I have come across to date within the chemistry department have been very helpful and more than happy to spend extra time with me if I have needed help, which I feel is very important for study abroad applicants coming to

Since I could last remember, my grandmother has been the central figure in my family, sagacious and unfaltering in compassion. The stories of her life in rural Mexico with a family lineage extending back to Latin America always provided my daydreams with a substantial amount of material to play with. While my family did not have the financial means to travel to these countries with their colorful histories of kings, queens, and warriors, I knew I would have to visit the land my ancestors once walked. From this study abroad experience, I expect to not only adequately improve my Spanish, but to also connect with a culture that blessed me with so many enduring memories as a child. Machu Picchu, museums, culinary workshops, and dance lessons are only a minor aspect of the plethora of places and traditions I hope to explore and…

When my school leaves for any sort of trip, they always remind everyone that we are representing our school. From the minute we leave the parking lot to the point of returning, the face of the school is us. Every student now holds the obligation of representing our school with their best actions. Studying abroad is the vaguely similar situation; for the exception that we carry more incredibly important responsibilities from across the globe. Contrasting in importance, instead of going on a field trip, I would be leaving the country.…

I believe that going out-of-state to pursue my education would be very beneficial to me in the future because with that experience it would help me deal with new situations and different environments. Instead of studying, a majority of college kids would instead opt to go to a party. Living elsewhere for a year creates the opportunity for them to see what other places are like. Seeing the world allows someone to develop skills and knowledge that they would not have learned in their small hometown, or potentially from only a short vacation to the same place. As long as their gap year is spent absorbing the culture and really putting themselves into the world instead of “just sitting on the couch, playing video games and thinking about what he’ll do next” (Hoder), they will learn a lot and return for college with knowledge you can not be taught in a…

One of my major problems as a student at the University of Wisconsin is that my second semester grades drop off from those which I received first semester. Every year I am able to post good grades my first semester, and do to some factors, I have not been able to repeat those grades during the second semester. Going abroad will keep me motivated throughout the second semester so I will be able to have a greater chance of repeating those first semester grades. I say this, first off because I believe that going to a place with different professors, and more so different teaching techniques will be an enjoyable change from the courses that I have experienced at Madison. Not only the teachers, but a different location will be a welcome difference from all of the classes that I have taken at social sciences the last few semesters.…
