As I attended the ACES Study Abroad Fair, the programs in France and in South America caught my attention. I realized at the program that I am currently in the best time of my life to study abroad. I enjoy traveling, but there have always been a few foreign countries I would love to explore. My first choice of countries would be France, since this is a developed first world country with fertile soils which produce many different crops from the United States. I would enjoy touring the countryside to see all the varieties of crops grown, and what practices are used to raise them. I would also explore France’s famous Eiffel Tower, and see the many other tourist attractions if I went here. This country is known throughout the world for its enormous soybean crops. I plan to continue managing a farming operation raising corn and soybeans when I am older, and it would be beneficial for me to see how this country can produce such large harvests. I also took three years of Spanish in high school, and it would be an exciting experience to finally use my bilingual skills. As with France, I would be interested to see how Brazil’s country’s culture, food, and people compare with the United States. Additionally, I would like to travel to South America, so I could fully utilize my Jonathan Baldwin Turner Scholarship.
