Leadership is defined by numerous definitions. Some mention that leadership is the ability to lead a group of people in order to reach a goal. Some also state that leadership is a position given to someone with authority. I think leadership is defined by actions. It is not just a title or position at work. Leadership is something that occurs at home, school, church, and within a group of friends. Leadership is how someone influences others and not how they use their authority. In class, we spoke briefly about the leaders that influence us in today's era. You mentioned that majority would think of the present and past leaders of our nation

I am willing to push through any obstacle in order to achieve a certain goal. Recently, I had to make a tough decision to quit a job that I absolutely adored. When I first moved to Lafayette, I felt a bit isolated because a majority of my friends stayed home to further their education. I began to go to fitness classes at the gym on campus to pass time in between my school classes. Because I went to so many fitness classes, I caught the attention of the supervisor of Group X, the group program that provided the fitness classes for ULL's students. The supervisor, Ms. Kristin, and I became pretty close in a matter of weeks. Ms. Kristin convinced me to get certified as an instructor so I would be able to teach for Group X for the following semester. By my second semester of college, I was a certified fitness instructor, and I would teach an hour-long class 3-4 times a week. Even though I loved teaching my classes, the job was not paying my bills. At first, I thought if I could get extra jobs on the side I would be able to make enough income to survive. I began to realize that graduating on time was more important to me than having to balance extra jobs around my love for teaching fitness classes. My determination to make my teaching fit inside my hectic schedule was growing into a more dedicated determination to graduate and further my …show more content…

You mentioned that majority would think of the present and past leaders of our nation or even maybe an influential person like Martin Luther King. Some of the students also mentioned the "kings" and "queens" of the social media fad. I, on the other hand, do not think of these individuals when I think of great leaders. I personally think of my parents and my
