I will be the backbone teacher and give my students the support that they need and not watch them fall along the way. I see my management role as being a collaborative process with the students, parents, and other professionals because I believe that collaboration always works best. Having that feedback from the students and parents can help me see what their interests are and help me teach to their interest. I can also collaborate with parents to see what their view is on my classroom management strategies and discuss that it is my responsibility as well as theirs when it comes to classroom management. Also, receiving feedback from other professionals would be great because they could give me ideas that I haven’t thought of and help me solve any problems that I could have. I believe that students should offer their input on classroom rules and consequences. I value students opinions and I don’t want my students to feel like I am the teacher and they are just students, I want them to know that they are respected and I won’t just ignore what they say and enforce a strict environment. I want to manage my students instead of discipline my students. I view managing as me working with my students and us coming to an agreement on things. I view discipline as what I say goes, and harsh punishments. If a student misbehaves in class I would separate them so that can calm down or focus depending on the situation and I would have a talk with them to discuss what happened, why it happened, and their consequences. I wouldn’t call them out in front of the classroom and punish them without talking to them to see what was going on in their head.
