According to MDRC (2010) student services are the set of educational activities that are carried out in the university in order to help individual and collectively the student in the process of the teaching-learning.
Before I say how I would organize the role of the student services on my campus, I must redefine the concept of student service. In accordance with my campus vision, student services are aimed at facilitating students’ academic and personal development. It is not enough to be a good professional, the most important thing is to be a person with integral passions, values and interests. That is why our campus implemented the curriculum of university life, document through which the university certifies the extra activities academic perform the student during his years of study. The objective is to promote the skills of students, encouraging their participation in university life and support them in their labor insertion.
Recreation. Our university offers recreation areas and enjoyment of physical activities. It also has different recreation clubs such as art, music and photography.
And other services as needed. If the different programs of educational assistance are coordinated, allowing the integration of the students to the university, students are encouraged to maintain a close relationship with the institution.
Whose job is student services?
Certainly, for colleges and universities, student services are a strong key to the educational mission, according to Barbezat (2013). Student services are not just another service offered by the university. On the contrary, they provide a complete educational environment for the student, so it is the job of the university to maintain and improve the service.
