On February 13th, 2017, I had a 4-hour shadowing with Jay Deora, RPh, Pharmacy manager at Walgreens pharmacy located at 1020 N Collins St., Arlington, TX 76011. During this shadowing with RPh. Deora I learned hands on that there was a lot of information to be learned I was eager to take in as much information as I can. Seeing him interact with patients and him doing his day to day routine gave me valuable insights on my career goal of being a pharmacist.

You don’t want to give patients wrong medications or dosage. So, having a good communication, good attitude, and efficiency team work is very important in a pharmacy.
Patients counseling is important, and I think at community pharmacy we don’t spend much time in this area, sometimes its due to being very busy. Most of the time, patients seem to not care about drugs they are taking or are just in a rush to get it and go. Pharmacist often spending little time with patients going over what drugs is use for and/or side effects before patients take off.
Being a pharmacist is very challenging there are many areas that need to be learned and mastered. This shadowing gave me questions and answers for my career in this field of work. It gave me a better understanding of what it takes to be a pharmacist and the commitment that it takes. But in the end the reward and the helping of others is worth it. Seeing and interacting with patients knowing you are there to help them get better and seeing them returning, getting to know them, and gain patients’ trust, makes me appreciate being a pharmacist that much …show more content…
