Should I be fortunate enough to be elected President of the Student Government Association of Frederick High, responsibilities as President will be second to none. Section 1, Article 7 of the FHS Constitution states that the President shall retain a status of an ex-offico member of all committees within our Government. This is where I'll work to deliver to the student of FHS more fun activities such as pep rallies and dances. Obviously, a pep rally every week or even every month is quite an unreasonable suggestion but, a more conservative goal of at least one a term does not seem like too much to ask. Furthermore, to improve the experience of the Students of FHS, I wish to incorporate more dances within the school year. These are great opportunities for our students to go out; Carpe Noctem, I say!

Personally, I believe that a status quo ante is detrimental to the experience of some of our most active students, precisely to our clubs. In any government, the onus of representation is on the elected

Undoubtedly, so do my peers. So many of my peers play sports. I represented our school playing football. One thing I specifically remember plaguing the team was our lack of players. Because we, unfortunately, did not have enough players, we were unable to field a JV team. I want to avoid all troubles a sports team may have. Why not send out sports registration forms when we email our students their schedule? I was honestly shocked that this was not already done which led to plenty of confusion almost causing me to miss the deadline. In conjunction with making better efforts to advertise our sports teams to my peers, I want to advertise our sports teams to local businesses. I promise to personally reach out to business owners around the area to get an endorsement for every sports team. Having worked on several campaigns previously, I have sold candidates to countless voters, furthermore, I believe I could potentially do them same with our sports

The leadership role in which I have had the greatest positive influence in has been as the Fine Arts Commissioner in ASB. As the Fine Arts Commissioner, it is my responsibility to showcase the performing arts in any way I possibly can, and while I have successfully done that, I’ve also successfully created a new rally that now occurs every year. Even though last year was my first year on ASB, I still made an impact on my school by taking charge of said new rally. My ASB director wanted to try having an on-campus winter dance before winter break and we figured the best way to promote the new dance would be through a rally. In addition, my ASB director didn’t want to have cheer and dance perform in this rally, for they perform in every other…

One of the many things I got asked when getting ready to go to college is “why a Liberal Arts University?” for a long time I didn't even know the difference, well now I do. A Liberal Arts University is a college that offers a broad range of subjects including math, science, history, philosophy, languages, and literature. Many non-liberal arts universities only offer your basics then your straight into your major specific classes. One thing I believe is the best thing about getting a liberal arts education is you have to take a little bit of every subject.…

In my sophomore year of college, a friend and I cofounded the Sterling College Ping Ping-Pong Club and I became the club president. With this position, I assumed the responsibilities of planning events that students wished to attend, helping to create eye-catching posters, and adhering to Student Government approved budgets. Although the Ping-Pong Club had a vice president and treasurer, as president, I took it upon myself to make sure that deadlines were met, meetings were held, and events ran smoothly. Although not tremendously stressful, it was difficult to make sure that tasks were completed. During this time, I learned the importance of delegation.…

From the time a five-year-old steps into their first day of kindergarten till the day they graduate from college, they will hear “you are our future, our next generation, the people who will change things” from elder ones. If the next generation is our future, would that consider a senior in high school to be more valuable than a senior in college in society? If the new generation will bring more excellence, knowledge, and a different outlook to the way things are to insure a better tomorrow, the youngest would hold the most worth. While the rest of the student council finishes touching up their various alien costumes with copious amounts of foil, the student body files into the gym for another all school homeroom. I am about to announce this Spirit Week’s extraterrestrial adventure movie theme, which we coined “Out of this World.” It’s easy to say that I became student council president thanks to my past experience and a killer slam poetry esque election speech, yet it was actually a little elementary student council election that led me here.…

Political campaigns stand as one of the staples of a democratic system of government, giving the citizenry access to the politicians who could represent them on a local, state, or national level. In america, every election is different with varying rules, ballot structures, level of media coverage, and participating constituents. Currently, the U.S. 2016 presidential campaign is in full force and quickly approaching the national conventions, which will finally declare who the Republican and Democratic nominees will be. Campaigns in principle should enhance the democratic election process, allowing the electorate the ability to question and evaluate the ideas and goals of the candidates. However, in the modern age, political campaigns in the…
