Student Placement Course Analysis

Improved Essays
Due to my area of residence I got lucky in being able to attend the high school I go to now. If I had gone to a different school, not only would I lose all of the experiences that I’ve built, but also miss out on the opportunities to take the advanced placement courses that I have been preparing for and enrolled in since sixth grade. Almost nowhere else would I be surrounded by such diversity and be given a highly ranked education. Every time there is a new lesson to learn in class I am sure to have paper and a pencil ready to indulge myself into the world of academics.

Although it is hard to get a new club formed at my high school, many of us strive to join smaller groups with friends to improve our knowledge in the different fields, one

Throughout the year AVID has helped me learn organizational skills enormously. I say this because at the beginning of the year I didn’t know how I was going to complete all the work I received and I didn’t really understand the time management part. So as we started getting more and more homework, I found it was important to use your planner and to do your homework the night it was assigned. Several times I fell into a whole on Thursday nights, when we had binder the next day.…

I’m sure someone has asked them self what it would be like to go to a whole new school at one point in their life, especially if they did not like their school much. I certainly had, but I most definitely not expecting to. Going from a private school like Jackson Academy to a small public school like Puckett High School was a big change, and there were many contrasts between the two schools. The three most important differences between Jackson Academy were the size, dress code, and education. Jackson Academy was very different from Puckett.…

My experience at Balfour Collegiate in Regina, Saskatchewan began much like others. In grade nine I wanted nothing more but to be accepted. I was sincerely lucky in the case that Balfour was one of the smaller schools in Regina, so within time I found my place. How I found my place was involving myself. At the grade nine open house almost every other student stressed, “Get involved!…

I created a broadcasting club called The Scorpion Scoop, which I feel has changed the attitude of Sedona Red Rock High School. The club effectively televises school announcements to the student body in a humorous manner, so the students pay attention to important information. I have tried to start this club in the past, but was continuously told it was too much of a challenge and would not work out. The rejection just made me more ambitious to establish this important club, as I would not take no for an answer. Few supported my idea to create this club, until one of my close friends decided to help.…

After my sophomore year of high school, I left Appalachia. I left the comfort of home, friends, and family to pursue what I knew I wanted — challenges and different opportunities. I began attending the Gatton Academy, a residential high school on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and practically every aspect of my life changed — population size, diversity, opportunities, class size, number of friends and challenges, personal growth, and even my drive home (which is now four and a half hours). I went from one of the least diverse cities in Kentucky to one of the most…

Schools are here to help prepare students for future career goals. The problem is always retention of students. This can be for a variety of reasons, such as economic(not being able to pay for school or having to get a job themselves), mental health, etc. These reasons could lead to students falling through the cracks of the system and ultimately dropping out. This happens regardless of where each student went to high school, but can be avoid by curricular tracking, viewing the schools via their resources and structure, and instilling programing that helps students achieve their goals.…

I grew up in Rockingham County which is a small, rural county located in northern central North Carolina. In terms of scenic beauty and outdoor excursions, Rockingham County has a lot to offer. I want to know what is it like to be in a more diverse community, comparing to my current school of only 800 students. Due to the size, the population forms many small pockets of social groups, which can be isolating. Although this community offers a wide array of different ideas and personalities, they are still very similar at their core. This leads me into why UW-M’s extracurricular activities interest me as well. Skimming through the massive catalog of clubs, I noticed that there were more academic-centered clubs than I expected- it seemed exciting that students could make connections with people both within and outside of their major while still learning about subjects that go with their academic interests.…

It’s hard to believe that something so small as switching schools could make a huge impact on your life, but I am proof that it is possible. This minor change turned my life around for the better. I received a better education and added to my family in more ways than one. The best solution isn’t always to change schools, but in my case it was. I will be forever thankful that I had the opportunity to attend Marvell Academy.…

The continuous collaboration of humans has been vital to the success and expansion of the species for thousands of years, and the concept of collaboration is still very prevalent within modern society. Many institutions and clubs still stand to help individuals find others with similar attributes, knowledge, and aspirations in order to strengthen the groups and ideals they present. The Magnolia Campus of Pellissippi State Community College is no stranger to the use of clubs and social constructs. In the school’s current state there are a total of fifty-two recognized clubs, ranging from ASL Please! to the Welding Club. Though the variety of options is present, the current structure only draws in a minor portion of the entire student population.…

Walt Disney once said, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious, and curiosity leads us down new paths.” It’s possible he was never forced to try new things, maybe he never had to move forward without giving any real consent, but it could be that he was never required to become curious and gain new insight on something that he was not curious about. That’s why, I propose to you, Mom and Dad, to move us back to our old city. Comfort is one of the key reasons why we should go back. Being in an environment where you can get a sense of comfort is a major factor in how we perceive ourselves and others.…

And, sometimes a facility that originally agrees to a project may discover that the idea is no longer feasible, due to staff, political, or importance issues. Having pre-defined criteria for placement sites increases the potential for a successful experience. By establishing the criteria for an acceptable site; must service the desired target population, have mentor willing and available, comply with duration of time needed to complete project,…
