Student One-High (AIG) Student
Background
Student one (who for reference well shall call Brett) is a young man who is around the age of nine and when asked what he would like to be when he is older came up with responses like so; “I would like anything with math, or maybe a ninja! But you know I would like to be that students who skips al the grades and goes straight to college, you think I can do that?”. He is in the fourth grade and is in the process of learning how to work with fractions (such as multiplying fractions). This student was able to perform all task correctly and seemed to be bored in the subject area. He mentioned how this was so easy for him. At the beginning, he was excited to be a part of this interview, but towards the end, you could tell this was not what he thought it would be. There were no modifications set in place for this students, seeing that he was AIG and it was prominent. We stayed on the fourth grade level because this is getting close to the end of the year and I wanted to see for myself where these students are going into the EOG. My main concern at this point was to see if they knew the fourth grade material or not. I understand that learning student frustration level and independent/instructional level is also important, but for my learning in this project I wanted to see student working on material that would be found on grade level. It was important for me to see, as a future teacher, what I could do better to make sure all my students are on or near grade level. I understand that the learning speed of all students are different but I would want to help those who struggle and get them where they need to

The teachers both explained that since third grade she has not yet passed the milestone testing. During small group instruction there are days where she will try to do the work and other days she will look off into space and not want to do anything. I often have to encourage her to stay on task with anything she does whether it’s individual or in small group instruction.…

As a speech pathologist in early intervention and in the education arena, I have assessed a diverse population of children birth-three years old, as well as school aged children. When choosing an assessment instrument, I consider multiple factors to include, how long does it take to administer the instrument, what is the age of the child, are there co-existing disabilities, will the parent or caregiver be available to provide information. The Preschool School Language Scale- Fifth Edition (PLS-5) and the Battelle Developmental Inventory-Second Edition (BDI-2) are both designed to address the communication development in young children. Both assessments allow for parent interview, observation and elicitation from subjects as means to administer the instrument.…

Three weeks into the school year, you notice that one of your eighth-grade students is consistently disengaged during lessons. She rarely answers questions, and when you call on her, she typically shrugs her shoulders and says, "I don't know. " Even when other students are engaged, you often find her listening to music, engaging in off-topic conversation, or putting her head down on her desk. Your assessments show that the student is well-below grade level in reading and mathematics. Answer both of the questions below, keeping each answer to about 150 words in…

You can’t just blindly run into world wanting to do something; you need a plan, determination, and confidence to know that you can make a difference.” I thought about what he said and realized he had a point. Kids my age are so concerned about the little things we never actually see the bigger picture; that there's something bigger than just dating, clothes and social media.…
