Going into high school I knew one thing; I wanted to get involved. Service was my way of doing just that. Throughout my four years of high school I got involved in Student Ambassadors, Student Council, and National Honor Society. I know that life gets to be overwhelming when trying to juggle school, clubs, sports, friendships, and other extracurricular activities, but try to make time to donate to your school or community because it really pays off in the end. As you prepare to graduate 8th grade and enter high school, I want you to take one lesson away from this. Get involved. Stay after school and help with events and activities. Don’t let your high school experience end at 3 o’clock every day. I smile when I look back on the nights when I was still at school at 8 or 9 PM because I remember the laughter I shared with my friends and the great accomplishments we’ve made together. Even though, at the time, I wished I was home sleeping instead of volunteering at registration or parent teacher conferences, I am grateful for these experiences because these are some of the best memories that I have.
