There have been millions of dollars funded to help students attend college. These funds have been given to many students across the United States. The money supports them during college The United States Department of Education News states, “ Since 2009, the Obama Administration has made historic investments in student financial aid that have helped ensure college stays within the reach of American families.” There has been a trend happening towards education financially. When years progress more and more student financial aid. Student loans have quadrupled in the past ten years, showing the constant plans of the government to ensure college to students. If the government continues to supply money to families, then much more support will be given to students who are working towards their degrees. With the grants given to families in America it has saved students money which will help them in the future because they are not in debt. When the funds, from the government, are not provided the student could end up in lots of debt to whoever you loaned money to. It is not good that when students finish college, they are in extreme debt. The price of tuition is so costly that some people avoid college altogether to not be in debt afterwards. The 2016 presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders states, “ Today, it would take a minimum wage worker an entire year to earn enough to cover the annual in-state tuition at a public college, and that's why many people don't attend college. With 1.3 trillion in student loans, Americans are in more student loans than credit card and auto loans.¨It is true that many people end up in debt after college. But there are many plans and ways to avoid debt altogether. Some examples are pell grants, Merit paid scholarships, and Work-Studies. Pell grants are loans from the federal government that do not need to be paid back. Also, the amount of aid you receive, from pell grants, determines on your financial needs so if you are in trouble it is reliable. Students can get Merit paid scholarships if they qualify the college regulations, and are mostly determined by grades in classes. Work studies are when you get jobs on paid jobs on campus to pay for tuition, books, and other fees. These are just some of the ways the government provides ways to pay for fees and to avoid
