Student engagement seems to be harder to obtain in modern society where technological devices are prevalent and in student’s possession. It is easier to lose focus and become engaged in something other than a lecture now that laptops are being used as one of the main sources of taking notes. College students in particular are a group that can disengage without any serious consequences, unless the professor restricts laptop use, and are a group to study the effects technology has in academic engagement.
