These past three years at Eureka High School have been jam packed full of many activities. I have been a class officer all three years, a member of Student Council, NHS, golf, basketball, and on the softball team. All of these clubs and activities have taught me a lot but none have taught me what student council has. Through student council I have learned what it truly means to be selfless. Through Fight for Life we are taught what it means to be selfless; we watch our advisors give up all of their free time to make Fight for Life happen. We also witness our fellow peers and teachers do the same. Without Student Council, I wouldn’t know what it would truly feel like to be selfless. As you know, this year I was able to start the first ever Fight for Life Golf Outing. Being able to organize and plan this event has helped me become a more organized and social person. Within the other organizations and activities I have been involved in, I have learned how to be a leader, a quality that is critical to being the president of the council. Along with learning to be a leader, I have learned how to be responsible and work with others to get a task done. In addition, I have excellent communication skills that would allow me to keep everyone on the council aware of what was going on; I would also be able to keep communication lines open between the advisors and

I believe I have demonstrated myself in those areas as a proven National Honors Society member in everything I am involved in. From being a youth mentor in my church, to leading in my extracurricular activities; my leadership was and still is heavily demonstrated in both my words and my actions. Being selected as a member would mean I will be devoted and pledged to all of the program and what it’s born to be and become. Also, bringing a vision and an attitude that I can change and influence those around me from the Inside and out.…

At every student council conference, each attendee receives a bag full of countless things like lanyards, coupons, pencils, and key chains. But of all the free stuff I've accumulated over the years, my favorite is one little, two inch, bright yellow pin that says, "I am Second". At that specific conference, the keynote speaker informed us that we are suppose to wear it on our shirts and when people read it, they should ask, "Then who is first?". In response, with a cheesy grin and an exaggerated wink, I am suppose to respond, "You are!". Not only will it make the other person chuckle, but it will remind us student council students that we are not here to be served but instead our purpose is to serve others.…
