What has been a struggle for me in the past I will learn from to better myself. I have found myself struggling in school and I things have pin pointed what has attributed. I find my self lacking motivation, I have a hard time doing things for my own benefit and I'd rather help others then help myself. Going along with that I have a hard time asking for help. I don't like feeling like I'm an inconvenience to someone, I'd rather spend hours trying to figure out an assignment on my own then spend thirty minutes working through it with a peer. The problems and issues I've had in the learning environment in the past are seeming easily fixed, but I will work on them now and continue to work on them as long as it takes to resolve. Among the weaknesses I posses I've found in me some strengths that I hope to continue to use into the future. I have years of Student Council experience and in that have found …show more content…
I hope to be well versed in different cultures and be able to adapt to any location. I'm excited to find a group of people interested in missions and have their hearts in the same place as me. I want to be educated on what's required to make the most of my life in missions. My goals in mission is to make it a full time career and use my life to glorify God. Something that makes me hesitant about college is the challenges I'll face and how I'll over come them. I know that I seem to struggle in many subjects and I'm hoping to overcome my hesitancy to ask for help and to get assistance in the areas I lack skills in. I'm nervous that I won't have confidence in myself and I'll lose sight of my goals. I want to build relationships with my professors and invest in each of my classes. Im nervous to embark on the task of living on my own, all of the new responsibilities that I'll gain and how I'll handle them. College will be a learning experience in all

Growing up, I was faced with many adversities, just like a lot of students in California school systems. I was a female, Mexican-born immigrant, growing up in Oakland in a pretty rough neighborhood. In high school I demonstrated grit by applying myself and fighting the urge to quit and finally graduating, while the curriculum helped me, there was still many other burdens in my life apart from education. In community college, when I first began, the “Student fear factor” definitely applied to me because I did not know what college was even about. I was so used to just being in high school where most people did not care if you made it to college, and my family was so busy with work and trying to keep up with rent and bills, that they had no time…

Social work values have always been engrained in my thoughts and behaviors, even before I knew what was considered social work values. Since I was younger, I treated every being with the same amount of dignity and respect. I was able to see individuals who were different from me, and also how these differences do not equate to deserving a lesser quality of life. This was what I believed, and this inspired volunteer experiences throughout my life in order to advocate for these individuals, including: soup kitchen visits, assisting and spending time with older adults, as well as reading to underprivileged children. These ideals pushed me to take internship opportunities available to me in the human services field, which further gave me the ability…

Throughout this semester, the most useful lesson I learned was from doing this self-assessment, which assisted in having a clearer understanding of who I am and who I will become. More importantly, they allowed me to better understand my own strengths and weaknesses, and how to better develop them. This understanding is essential to me as a future practitioner in the events industry. In this essay, I will discuss my own leadership style as “pacesetting” based on the self-assessment result proposed by Daniel Goleman (2000). I will first discuss my leadership strengths (e.g., time management) and weaknesses (e.g., lack of negotiation skills) retrieved from the self-assessment and my daily life.…

During the last couple of months, I have extensively strengthened my group working skill and critical thinking skills by learning to be patient, accepting of diversity, and open-minded towards different lifestyles. What helped me become a better learner and person was understanding and accepting that the people that I was going to interact had different views of the world around them; that I needed to discover who I was and reevaluate my fixed mindset; and that working with other people was only going to benefit me. Throughout my first semester as a college student, I made a list of things that I would like to achieve before the year ended. One of my main goals was to become a patient and accepting team member in any group that my professors…
