When I was a freshman, I was super focused on getting good grades because that’s what I thought got you into college. I thought extracurricular activities were a waste of time. After freshman year, I switched schools and enrolled in an AVID class. There my teacher encouraged me to be part of all the activities that excite me. Most of my friends were doing student congress, speech, and debate so I decided to join them. When I first started, I was a novice. I didn't know how to write a debate case, I didn't know how to write a bill for student congress, and I certainly didn't know how to speak in front of a large group with being nervous. So, in sophomore year I spent most of my time learning how to do those things. I would spend up to four hours
