Student City Council Essay

My hope for student City Council representative, is that I am given a platform to speak on behalf of my school and peers. Additionally, I hope that this role entails much more than just showing up to the meetings and taking notes1. I am interested in becoming a student city council representative because as a student who will live in this community and attend PHS for 2 more years, I would like to see positive changes in both the school and community, and learn how these changes can take effect or how they can be accomplished2. If chosen, I hope to establish long term changes at Phoenix High School that will improve our school. I am unsure of what these specific changes will be, but in some way or another I hope to accomplish something good for Phoenix High School.3
What I would like for the student city council representative role to entail is the opportunity to share ideas and participate in discussions. I believe that in order for this program to be effective there should be a fair amount of student contribution. Furthermore, I would like for there to be the chance to share student concerns, and for there to be reasonable discussion on them, if possible. As mentioned earlier, I have 2 years left at Phoenix High School and would like to see an overall school improvement, and in order to do this I would have to understand how these work in relation to one another. I would also like to be a student council representative so that I can be the connecting branch between our City Council and the student body; communicate to the school what is happening in our local government, and how it will affect our school, and
