Brennan’s parents could not support him because of our economy downfall and high tuition cost. If he had received a higher amount of grant aid, his parents would not have as much trouble providing for their son and their other kids as well. High tuition is a social problem because not only does this have a negative effect on individuals but also our social world. Wealth, the value of assets (checking and savings accounts, property, vehicles, and stocks) owned by a household (Keister and Moller 2010), is a thoroughly important indicator of individual and family approach to better chances in life. The more wealth one has, the better opportunities they can create for themselves and their family. Socially, if one student's family had more money than the other, then they have no problem in paying the high tuition cost, whereas the student with sufficient or low-income families struggle to meet the tuition demands. If you are a parent of two teenagers who are about to attend college, how would they provide for their education. Even though support is provided by the government, it is not sufficient enough as I had previously mentioned in the story about Brennan. Until our economy remains in the downfall I think schools should help families with low-income with higher grant aid and possibly help find the student get a part-time job, so they could provide somewhat for themselves. Education plays a huge part in our society because the further you educate yourself, the better chances of having a successful future and career. Having a good education allows everyone to get a good paying job and not having to worry about providing for their families. The high rise of college cost won't go away till our economy is back to normal and family members who are unemployed and cannot provide for their families are once again employees. I think college tuition should be based on the total amount of income the family of attending student receives.
