Because they are often loosely organized, gym class sports can put athletes at risk of injuries that could hinder their sports season.” What this quote means is exactly what it says, Gym class is almost always unorganized and puts athletes at risk. This would mean The Athlete could be debilitated and play worse when they can move freely and is exempt from things such as casts or splints from breaks or fractures or sprains that could be caused from PE.
