I honestly don’t believe that student-athletes should get paid to play sports. There seems to be a misunderstanding about how profitable these athletic programs really are and that the schools are making tons of money off of these athletes. In reality, only a small portion of these school programs are lucrative while most function at a higher cost to the institution itself. The question of pay mainly rests of the sports of basketball and football because of their high-profile and revenue athletics departments. The argument is that student athletes should receive compensation because these institutions are banking millions of dollars off of their student’s performances.
