When you join a team, you have to sign a contract with guidelines and rules. Some of the basic rules are you must attend school every day, keep your grades up, and stay out of trouble. If these rules are broken, the athlete could be suspended or face other consequences. This gives them the incentive to make school and behavior a priority. As a student that is not tied up in a similar contract, they may be lacking the motivation to do their best in school and not make smart
