The work of student affairs professionals often goes unnoticed in higher education because the work is completed outside of the classroom. Our textbook explains that “the curriculum of student affairs is central to the mission of most colleges” (p. 108). The mission of Barton College is to provide challenging learning opportunities for students so that they can be leaders in their communities. First, students can learn about themselves and other cultures through various campus events held by student affairs professionals such as International Student Day. Student affairs professionals can demonstrate their dedication to student learning by developing programs such as International Student Day that allow international students to hold information
