A Life of Strengths
Sometimes, I feel as if God has blessed me more the average person. I do not say this in an arrogant tone, but rather it is truly how I view the strengths that God has provided me. I never thought about the strengths that God has placed inside me until I took the Strengths Quest test. After I completed the test and received the results, I realized how truly blessed I am to own these unique strengths. My top five strengths, according to the results, are Ideation, Input, Strategic, Achiever, and Learner. All these strengths seem to intertwine together to form a skillset that is responsible for most of my success in life and is present in every aspect of my life today.
It seems that all my strengths are connected in some way, but there are strengths that distinctly connect together and play off each other. The first group has three of my strengths in it and plays a role every single day whether I am going to class or just walking out the door. Ideation, Input, and Learner form a powerful tool in learning information of any kind. Ideation is the fascination of ideas and discovering simple ideas hidden in a complex concept. I find this

The two strengths that have downsides that I notice in my life are Achiever and Learner. With the Learner strength, I often spend all of my time trying to know the people that converse with me. This is great for me, because I can learn everything about this one individual, but the person will barely get to know me at all. With the Achiever strength the downside affects me most in my life. I can never settle for second or anything less than my goal. This can be hard to achieve since my goal is usually perfection. It often leaves me feeling unsatisfied and inadequate. Now that I know that these feelings are caused by one of my strengths, I may be able to begin to correct these negative feelings toward

After reading a few chapters of Strengths Quest, I was instructed to participate in the Strengths Finder assessment (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006). This 30 minute assessment was an interesting tool that pointed out my greatest strengths. It also provided a detailed description of what having those strengths mean and examples of how they are prominent in a person 's life. After taking the StrengthsFinder survey, I discovered that my five dominant strengths are empathy, harmony, consistency, relator, and restorative.…

The five greatest strengths shown to me by the Strengthsfinder Survey were Consistency, Belief, Responsibility, Developer, and Relator. I chose a life of Civil Service, in the Military and now as a Police Officer. Having Consistency and Responsibility I believe fit right into this life choice and in my opinion if you don't have Belief in what you're doing you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. I utilize Consistency on a daily basis as a Police Officer. I wholeheartedly believe each individual has the right to be treated fairly and on equal ground to anyone else regardless of social, economic or criminal justice standings.…

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

Upon completing the StrengthsFinder survey, it is determined my 5 greatest strengths are the learner, achiever, competition, strategic, and relator, all of which I expected (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). While reading the text I examined the various themes of different strengths, relating closely to the 5 assigned by the survey, I am impressed by how well the explanations were written in the book, Strengths Quest Second Edition. The text in correlation with the materials provided from the StrengthsFinder survey brought forth meaning and depth into finding out exactly the type of person I am. Learning is listed as my top strength in the survey (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). I believe I have used that trait extensively throughout…

I might not be first in my class, or I might not always get the best grades in the class, but I always have that determination to work hard to be the best that I can possibly be. When I wake up in the morning and look at myself in the mirror, I always want to be able to tell myself that I will and have done the best that I can. Another strength of mine would have to be that I am well organized. I like to have all my academic school work organized, which I believe also helps me cope with time management. Being well organized, makes getting my school work done efficiently and due on time possible by knowing when my assignments are due, and where my assignments are, rather than losing track of my work which may take extra time out of my day to find that information, which ultimately gives myself less time to study and get the most out of my education.…
