Struggles Are Real.
Life is like long walk on the road. You encounter several obstacles on the way, but you have neglect those obstacles and just carry on forward. These struggles in our lives play an important role in transforming our lives, especially from stupidity to maturity. One such example would be my interviewee with Mukesh Shah, 58, a self-made man, who has overcome many struggles in his early adulthood. As a child, he was the troublemaker amongst all of his siblings. But as the time passed, his family undergo into a crisis economically and emotionally. In 1970, becoming a lawyer was one of the most respectful jobs and my uncle’s dream was to become one. Due to his hard work and dedication in his high school days, he was accepted by best law school in Baroda, India. But as misfortune called, his father, “who worked really hard to raise us, and had promised to fulfill all of our dreams” (Mukesh Shah), had to face a difficult health condition, as a result his dad was forced to take bed rest for his remaining life. Thus family needed someone’s support, and therefore, he felt the need to take on responsibility to support his family financially and emotionally. Correspondingly, he became a full time student at a community college, and worked for 60 hours a week, usually night shifts, and simultaneously be optimistic for his dream to come true. “It was the hardest time my life, and there were many situations, for which I had no idea of what to do, at that time, I always turned around to my dad for his advice (Mukesh Shah).” His father was his coach, friend, father, and his role model in life. Every time he got confused he would always remember his father’s important principles. Some of the principles he values the most are: never to lie, be faithful towards your religion, and always work hard to support your family. With all the responsibilities in your adult life, did you achieve all of your dreams? “Dreams are dreams; you either achieve a dream or dream another” (Mukesh Shah). He had a tough adult life, in which he achieved some goals, but had to sacrifice many. When he decided to take on the responsibilities, his first most goal was to settle his brother and sisters home, then to become a successful lawyer. But as time passed, he was busy with work and family matters that he had to finally give up his dream to become a lawyer. However, he was not disappointed, instead it made him more determined to help his brother and sisters settle down successfully.
