There are many other factors that can build a strong university.Universities of all types have struggled to define measurable goals for their organization. If an organization achieves their measurable goals, it shows that the organization spent time and effort trying to reach that goal. Unfortunately, it is difficult to set goals in the university setting because some goals will require additional funding, such as hiring well published professors and other goals will take time, such as entry and exit evaluation to show student knowledge levels. Overall, setting and achieving goals in higher education is a difficult feat.

Instead, they should focus on building a strong foundation, using their current successful attributes, for their students and staff. A strong foundation comes from successful alumni who believe their education helped their success. It also originates from administration who believes in its faculty and their ability to educate, not their credentials. There are many other factors that can build a strong university. This will provide them with something to be proud of. Only accepting the best students is no longer acceptable. Education is about the progress, not the prestige, of a university. Some universities want to set measurable goals, which is difficult under the current constructs. It will take time, money, and a different mindset change to the system, but it is possible. Focusing less on prestige of the school and the entering test scores of students is one aspect that universities have control over. As mentioned, building a stronger foundation from their current attributes will also help. Then universities can work on setting up achievable goals for their current students using metrics from their past
