Stringer's Best Practices

Decent Essays
Natasha,
Your final draft was concise and you did a great job! You did a superb job incorporating the information from Stringer text with the best practices of action research. What stood out in my mind as a best practice of action research presented by Stringer was that a researcher needed to have an understanding of the background to gain insight to the problem being solved for valid results. Not knowing the background or history of the people being affect is much like baking a cake without all the ingredients.
God Bless!
Sheila

Editorial Feedback I had the opportunity to read my classmate Ana Ortiz’s autobiography whom I enjoyed learning more about. The part about her sister getting Dengue virus made the autobiography more interesting. There were enough details about her personal life to allow readers to get a general idea of who she is. I liked that Ana focused on being a part of the Latino community, but she should expand on it.…

Throughout my time in English 101, my writing has undergone drastic improvements. The first writing assignment I chose to revise was Project 1, the Advertisement Analysis. My first draft of Project 1 had no clear thesis and no specific claim, ideally, an easy problem to solve. However, this was a common issue in my writing in most of my projects this semester, so it only made sense to tackle this project and revise it first. To begin revising Project 1, I first established my thesis statement which was that: the “Best Buds” advertisement was effective because of the incorporated rhetorical strategies and the overall theme of loyalty.…

Robert, I couldn't agree more with you about the affect this resrarch project had on the families and public that were affected greatly by this project. It shocks me that the researchers would both lie and create false hope for the loved ones, that they had given their family members a voice. My question for you is what do you think their reason for lying was? You had mentioned that millions of dollars were potentially wasted, but I'm curious to see if by lying these researchers profited off their actions. I would also like to mention that your view on the perfect grammar and spelling of someone who is mentally challanged is spot on.…

Hi Brian. Haven personally witnessed (to some degree) individual, organizational, and system level change within a different sector, this article was spot on in my opinion. Its' analysis of models and tools that can move the needle forward was the first point of appreciation. Also, I appreciated their call out of 'racism' as a fundamental problem to tackle if wanting to solve for any injustice or inequality. In my experience particularly working on Social Determinants of Health, racism is often the overlooked or at least unmentioned root problem.…

After receiving good comments from Syrus and you on the RA final draft, I wasn’t sure if I wished to submit my RA essay again. However, when I read my essay after submission, I felt that my most important message was not being effectively communicated as I was trying to prove several claims at once. I was able to resolve this problem, by one of your advice during the office hours where you suggested that I should try to limit myself. After having read your essay I checked your proposal and your sources analyses in order to have an overall experience of what you would like to research and why. The purpose of your proposal is slightly different from the purpose of your first draft. In your proposal, you mentioned that you wanted to explore "how music and language coincide with one another [and] how music was and is used as a tool to communicate social issues and social changes. " You also wanted to “show how music has been used as a form of language in worship, was, education medical etc.”…

By doing further research I found out that there were other theorists which were more compelling. I made a change to one of my objectives as I thought it would be more effective because then I could show the results of what the practitioners views were.
