Gun Control Good Or Bad

San Bernardino, California; Charleston, South Carolina; Newtown, Connecticut and Roseburg, Oregon. These cities separated by hundreds of miles all have been visited by a certain tragedy that make them the same. This tragedy is the senseless massacre of its citizens by the use of guns. Many people ask why gun control is something we need and the answer to the question is because it keeps violent and mindless crimes such as these from happening. It has been shown that in many developed countries with stricter gun control the crime rate is much lower than the United States. Examples of these stricter gun control laws ranges from having to be an active member of a regulated shooting club and having to pass an aptitude test to having to pass …show more content…
In 2013, a poll was taken that showed over ninety percent of American citizens were for background checks, and over seventy percent of NRA (National Rifle Association) members were also for background checks (Clement). This is an important statistic because not only does it show that a majority of people support background checks, it gives insight on how many people who support gun rights also support keeping guns out of the wrong hands. It also shows that a majority of Americans do support this solution making it one that is the most favorable to people. Another example of the support background checks receives from citizens, is the support garnered from politicians. Because politicians depend on votes from citizens, most of them will usually stand for the same thing a citizen believes. It is no different with gun control. Whether it is just because they already had the same belief as the citizen or they changed it to follow popular belief, a poll showed that eighty-eight percent of Democrats and 79 percent of Republicans support background checks (Continue Support Background Check). This is one of the few things that both Republicans and Democrats both support, even though both them have very different platforms. This is very surprising especially for the Republican’s side due to their conservative nature and how both them and the Democratic Party butt-heads about most thing. To be able to find a compromise that both parties are willing to accept is a very big deal and should therefore not be ignored. With background checking to be the most popular solution to the issue on gun control, it is usually hard to find a citizen who disagrees with this solution since the process is efficient and practical. Though even with the amount of support that background checks have from almost all citizens, there are loopholes within the

The president got up in front of the public and gave a speech. In that speech Obama claims that the NRA ‘“willfully lied” about the background-check proposal to stoke fear among gun rights supporters that Congress would violate their Second Amendment rights or create a federal gun registry” (Obama). If something was going to help prevent and make America safer why wouldn't everyone jump on this? Why would people just believe something an organization claims without doing there own research. The 21st century society is constant decline when compared to past generations.…

There are political issues with gun rights, but I think that checking any and all background history, permits, license, and other “obstacles” to getting a gun are just some of the ways of preventing things like this from happening. As you can see, this does not always work, but at least it is making it harder for the wrong people to get a gun. The author focused on all the right things in this article. He told all of the who ’s, what’s, when’s, where’s, why’s, and how’s of this story, giving us as much detail as…

The accusations that background checks will not treat the issue because criminals will not consent to a background check are false. The purpose of a check is to prevent those who are not supposed to purchase guns, from legally owning them. Lacking these checks, there is no method to guarantee that gun distributers are obeying the law and not allowing ineligible people to purchase firearms, (Sager). “About eighty-percent of the people surveyed, in a study pertaining to gun control laws, support background checks before a gun purchase can be made. Around seventy-seven percent of these same…

The legal measures each party desires to take in attempt to solve the issue contrast in almost all ways. Republicans want to loosen gun laws and keep the ban off “assault weapons”. Democrats wish to not only have the ban in place, but close loopholes that make a gun easier to obtain even in states with strict gun regulations (“Republican”). Although both parties disagree…

Gun Control, it's a controversial subject and many people think that if we had gun control then many murders and mass shootings would not have happened. But that is simply not true, there has been countless times when people have prevented or stopped mass shootings either before they happened or during it because they legally carry a firearm. In the Texas mass church shooting there was one man who owned a gun legally and stopped many more people from being killed although there was a lot of deaths many were prevented by this great man. Also do you wanna know who else has gun control, Socialist and Communist countries that don't want their people to revolt. It's your right to own a gun in the U.S and you should take to that right before our…

I once stated, “Alaskans living off the road system, in rural villages without gun stores, who order guns over the Internet. To pick up the gun, they would have to buy a ticket to the nearest town with a gun dealer. Whoever you're purchasing from the Internet has to send the gun directly to the dealer ... it doesn't come to you, it goes to whoever is doing your background check.…

    Stricter Gun Regulation

One of the most common arguments against the implementation of stricter gun regulation is the cultural difference between the United States and countries which show successful results in gun control, and therefore the United States is an exception. However, the logic behind this flawed mentality fails to prove trustworthy. For example, Australia, which has one of the most effective gun regulation systems, displays a drastically different culture compared to Japan, and yet they both uphold stringent gun laws and low gun violence rates. From population to land size and language to pop culture, Japan and Australia display examples on opposing ends of the spectrum. However, cultural differences aside, Australia and Japan both manage to recognize the threat guns pose to a healthy society.…

Despite such obvious signs, he still passed his background check. Why?…
