In “’Do School Dress Codes Perpetuate Sexism, Rape Culture?’,” Rowena Lindsay argues that the main reasons the dress code is so strict towards girls is to make sure the males are not distracted by the girls’ bodies. In other words, girls cannot go to school feeling confident about herself because she will have to worry about the males be distracted by her body. It is understandable why the opposition argues this, but a girl should not go into school feeling as if she is a distraction towards the male students. The male students should be taught that it is not acceptable to body shame the girl students in school and out of school. Even though the males may feel distracted, it is not the girls’ responsibility to change who they are or how they dress for the male
