For many years, stretching was an accepted part of warmup for any physical activity. It was believed that it would decrease sports injuries, but now professionals are not so sure about that fact. According to C.W. Daub (2013) “Stretching does not equal a warm-up. The best approach to warming up… is…dynamic movement to prepare the muscles and connective tissues for the intended activity”. That does not mean that there are not advantages to stretching, but that it does not necessarily need to be performed as a warm-up before physical activity.
