Healthcare services are plague by a multitude of stressors including severely ill people, workload, and limited growth opportunities. Furthermore, healthcare professionals are confronted with increasing job demands and increase workload due to budget cuts. Research studies have revealed that such stressors may result in a number of mental, physical, and behavioral stress effects. In a study conducted among Dutch nurses, Janssen and colleagues (1999) found that burnout is mainly determined by the employee’s workload and social support. They also found that turnover intentions are mainly correlated to unmet career expectations: higher salary, and more job responsibility. In a more recent study conducted in the US, Ripp and colleagues (2011)
