Most of that is true, but when it comes to working thirty-five hours a week while also trying to keep up with eighteen hours of school, homework, and projects, things can become frightening. Most of my stress comes from working too much while also trying to maintain a good standing in school. I like to counter that stress by trying to work fewer hours, preparing as much as possible for class, and taking personal time to do things I enjoy. Not everyone I work with will understand the demands of being a student and, similarly, and the additional responsibilities of working while in school. Stress is an inevitable part of being a student, mom and a worker-- combining all together and you can expect to be stressed out. As much as you may try to prevent stress, you're going to have to learn how to relieve. I take as much needed breaks. Right now, October 2017, about six weeks into sophomore year, and I feel like I’m under a massive amount of stress. College tends to be the topic up for discussion, so my parents expect me to have B+’s and higher in the grade book. Also, my grandfather’s were both in band, so a requirement for me is to learn and memorize four pages of music, then learn another three pages for All Region and re-auditions in the middle of November, and remember about fortyseven spots on the football field. Feeling the pressure by parents and friends to accomplish multiple different tasks can be extremely overwhelming. A large amount of people around the world know and understand the fear, stress, and idea of trying to succeed at many objectives at one time that…

The average teen reported that on a scale of 10, their own stress level was at least a 5.8, while the average adult gave 5.1. I never thought of stress being apart of my life. However, once I entered my sophomore year, I realized how stressed I had become: at my grades, my homework and soon almost anything that appeared in front of me that involved any work. It was not simply because I had become…

I go to my teachers about a lot and I am lucky to have a lot of really great relationships with facility, which makes it easier for me to reach out to them when I am stressed out or I don’t know what to do about a situation. So, I would say the faculty here at Dwight is more involved with my school life, then my parents are and the fact that they are involved, puts me at ease and makes my Dwight Englewood life a little less stressful, because they are so willing to help me out and I am willing to go to them for help. S When you say school, do you just mean the academic aspect or social as well?…

I was a high school student at Arthur Hill High School and I also attended the Saginaw Career Complex for one year for the medical program. When I was attending the Saginaw Career Complex I walked in my Anatomy teacher’s classroom to talk to her. When I walked in she was setting up a crime scene for the criminal program they had there. The scene she set up was awesome and it made me want to attend the class. I told my teacher I was going to come back my senior year to take her forensic class she taught there, but I never went back to the career complex.…

As mention before one of the contributors of causing stress is becoming involved in extracurricular activities while being a full time student, even though extracurricular activities plays a positive and important role in a student life it can also contribute many stressors. Though, American and universal understudies may experience common stressors in school, impression of what are considered as scholastic stressors and their responses to these stressors may contrast (Misra, R., & Castillo, L. G., 2014). Some students might find it difficult to find a balance between their course loads along with the extracurricular activities. As a student myself I have experienced that wanting to participate in certain activities that conflict my school schedule often forced me to focus on picking between the two. Of course causing me to push the school work aside to participate in the activities causing delay on my assignment, this delay not only harms a student’s grade but as well as causes a student unwanted stress which is harmful to one’s…

I learned that how I deal with the stress that I have may not be the best, but old habits die hard. When I first started classes it was during summer semester, when there was not as many students on campus, I believe that helped reducing my anxiety of the first day of classes last fall. I did find that it was interesting that in one of the studies it found that younger participants hand lower levels of stress than those of the older participants, in ways it makes sense; personally knowing that I need to have a certain grade and GPA for graduation and transfers makes it more stressful trying to keep my grades up. I have always understood that if I don't have at least 6 hours of sleep I will not be worth anything the next day; the days where I haven't gotten much sleep have felt a bit more anxious about getting assignments…

With today’s school many students attending college find their self-having anxious. Students having anxious do not perform “well in unstructured, independent study projects where less anxious students might excel (Nicolson & Bess, 1997)”. With the increase in non-traditional students attending college, there is a need to understand how balancing of the multiple demands and roles of work, school, and life affects adult students. Stress emerged as an important variable with relationships to grade point average (GPA) and intent to persist along with goal commitment. Studies have shown that many students who postpone their work are most likely married and have dependents.…

I was born a long while ago on a cold Monday morning in February. Since that fateful day, I have never stopped going. Through rushing around, joining one club or another, I never had the time to sit and relax or to sleep for the recommended eight hours a night. A time use study is a mechanism that allows individuals to analyze and allocate their time and activities. At the end of my time use study, I wanted to determine if I was occupationally balanced and then discover the activities I engage in most often. When a person is occupationally balanced, it does not mean that their time is divided equally amongst all occupations; instead, it is when a person is perceived to be under control. I consider myself occupationally balanced when I engage in contracted, necessary, and leisure occupations every day.…

Boot Camp Waking up for a grueling day of school is something that I hate doing every morning. Hearing an alarm blare in my ear for what seems to be twenty minutes straight is not of what I want my mornings to consist. The process of waking up, showering and getting dressed, being engaged during school hours, and finishing homework when I get home is beyond energy draining. I often contemplate whether or not I want to put myself through this “boot camp” of a day. A normal school day for me is full of many tears, broken pencils, and ripped pages; however, I still manage to man up, wipe away my tears, and get the job done every day.…
