When life gets busy, it’s easy to get caught up in the craziness. Between work, having a family, and trying to fit things in for yourself, it’s easy to get burned out. It’s important to recognize stress instead of ignoring it. There are things you can do to manage your stress in a healthy way before it gets out of control. It’s common to have the mindset that if you ignore stress, it will go away. Unfortunately, it will always catch up to you eventually, and your body and state of your overall well-being will pay the price.

Even if you don’t seek psychiatric help, talking to someone almost always helps you to put things in perspective. As women, I think we tend to have an easier time talking about our issues than men do. Generally speaking, if we’re talking to a close friend or someone we trust, we’re more likely to open up to them. Once the conversation starts and especially if it’s clear something is bothering us, it usually opens the floodgates and we start pouring out our issues and trying to figure out how to deal with everything. In some instances, it’s just as easy talking to a mere acquaintance about our private issues when common ground is discovered and we realize we’re not the only ones with issues. A lot of people find that mediation is something that is helpful in relieving stress. When you meditate, you clear your mind of all thought and are usually focused on one thing. All the fuzzy background thought should then fade away, leaving you in a much more peaceful state than when you started. Stress and a healthy diet are also pretty essential in maintaining stress, and just living a healthy life in general. When your body feels good, the mind usually follows. Exercising releases endorphins, which help us sleep, and are also natural pain killers. And when you’re not loading your body with crappy, fatty foods, you won’t have that sluggish feeling all day that makes you feel unmotivated and lazy. I run on caffeine; I don’t feel right unless I have at least one cup every morning. But I notice on days when I drink a lot of water throughout the day, I felt ten times better than coffee ever makes me feel. There’s no sluggishness or “blah” feeling at
